Courses on Hellenistic Astrology

Our courses are presented online through interactive software that each student gains access to upon registering for a course. We teach classes on the history, techniques and philosophy of Hellenistic astrology. In the future we also plan to offer classes on ancient Greek and Latin in order to give our students the tools to read and translate the source texts of the astrological tradition on their own. This is part of a larger effort to educate the public about Hellenistic astrology and to get more people involved in our ongoing cooperative translation project.

An Introduction to Hellenistic Astrology

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the ancient Hellenistic tradition astrology, which is a tradition of horoscopic astrology that was practiced from the 1st century BCE until approximately the early 7th century CE. The course covers the history and origin of the early tradition of horoscopic astrology, as well as the philosophical, theoretical and technical underpinnings of the system. Students will finish the course with a strong foundation in the history, techniques and practice of Hellensitic astrology, and with plenty of new techniques and practical material to apply to their own astrological practice.

This is an online course that is taught by Chris Brennan. For more information about the course or in order to register for it please see the introduction to Hellenistic astrology course description page.

Important Note: Although it is not a requirement, a broadband internet connection is highly recommended for the courses in order to download audio and other files that would take a while on slower connections.
