This is the first and only complete translation of Manuel's defense of astrology into English from its original Greek, along with the refutation of the defense penned by the monk Michael Glycas The first part of the article contains a long, detailed historical narrative in order to set the backdrop for the defense and refutation, in addition to a detailed commentary on the texts.
